I'm aware that I need Plex Pass for that, the main thing is now. Kompatibilitätsliste der Synology-Produkte. Otherwise even 1080p files won't all playback smoothly according to the info I found. So since I don't have the fastest NAS, I want to make use of that hardware transcoding capability. Make sure you 'index' the folders you wish to use with the media server. Synology have their own one (which I use) - you need to install it from the package centre (its just called media server) and then it will run in the background everytime the NAS is started. And that's that for hardware transcoding I can only use the app directly downloaded from the Plex site, is this correct? Apparently the app in the Package Center is only 32 bit? And the app on the website is the only version that is 64 bit. As above, you need a media server running. I did check some threads in this sub and I found some info I didn't know yet. But that isn't really convenient, so I want the media server running on my NAS obviously. I'm running the server on my (high end) PC right now and just login when I want a watch something. Recently I wanted to give Plex (yet) another try, because it should be so convenient. Nowadays I have a few Docker apps running, but I run into problems with a lot of containers getting them to work with my firewall. Download and install Synology-developed and third-party packages directly from Package Center. I never used or knew anything about Docker and didn't have a time/energy at the time to dive into it. Add functionality to your device with powerful collaboration, backup, communication, and management tools. Use 3rd party plugin for unsupported formats (Win PC only) Convert videos up to 720p 2. MP4 (multi audio tracks) or MKV: Remux video 1. People advised me to go with Docker and that I shouldn't use Synology apps in general. MP4, MOV, and M4V: Stream original video file. I have a 418play and ran into some problems in the past with the Plex app from the Package Center. I have the new Ryzen CPU synology NAS and i cant get the PLEX app to work on it from the store.
